Rating Images
Diiva allows you to rate each image, on a scale of 1 to 5, based on how much you liked it. This allows you to sort images and categories by rating, which is a useful way of managing your archive -- view the highest rated images first, and when your drive starts to fill up, delete the lowest rated images.

The "Diiva Archive" Folder
Files that Diiva downloads or imports are stored in the "Diiva Archive" folder, which is created in the same directory as the Diiva application. The contents of this folder reflect the "files within categories" structure used by Diiva. This structure is only one level deep; categories must contain only images, and images must be in a category. You may manually move, add, or delete files from the archive folder without any harmful consequences.

Importing Images
Diiva's Import command, found under the File Menu, allows you to quickly bring images into the Diiva system. When you select this command, Diiva will prompt you for a folder containing images. All images within this folder will be imported, no matter if they are nested within other folders or not. For example, if you selected your entire hard drive, all images on your drive would be imported.

Note that only JPEG files (ending with ".jpg") are imported, since Diiva only works with JPEG files. Also note that images are not deleted from their original location.

The images are automatically categorized by filename, and thumbnail data is inserted. Even so, the resulting archive is usually smaller in size than the original image files, since the JPEG datastreams are cleaned of unnecessary data during the import process.
